Punks With Purpose are encouraging staff at BrewDog, and any other alcohol production or hospitality companies where folks are struggling with working conditions, to speak to a union to see how they might be able to help.
Since we published the open letter to BrewDog, Unite Hospitality have been super helpful in sharing and promoting our message. We are happy to share their message here.
Unite Hospitality is the union set-up by and for bar and brewery workers. Throughout the pandemic, our members have won some incredible campaigns to improve wages and conditions across the sector. From Unite members at G1 who forced the company to reinstate over 2000 workers who were terminated at the start of the pandemic to the workers of West Brewery in Glasgow who collectively challenged issued with their furlough wages and got backdated pay and the reinstatement of activists who had been threatened with redundancy. A union is not about a 3rd party coming-in to resolve issues for workers, it is about workers coming together and collectively challenging unscrupulous employment practices and winning better for them and their colleagues.
